The SANDVIK COROMANT 8037278 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations where edge strength and surface finish are critical. Built on the CoroMill Dura platform, this single-end tool features a 0.0150 inch corner radius, a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, and three flutes with a 35-degree variable helix for improved chip evacuation and reduced vibration. A ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating adds wear resistance, making it well-suited for non-ferrous and high-silicon alloy materials. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tooling technicians working in CNC milling environments.
This end mill is intended for light finishing and semi-finishing passes on non-ferrous metals, plastics, and similar materials classified under material grade N1BZ. With a 1/2 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length on a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank, it fits standard ER collet chucks and small-bore tool holders commonly found on vertical machining centers and CNC routers. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, giving the operator flexibility in toolpath programming.
Designed for use in CNC milling applications with 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank tool holders; part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series targeting non-ferrous material grades (N1BZ).
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the 1/8 inch shank securely in a matched collet or end mill holder, ensuring adequate clamping length to prevent pull-out under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating the first cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tools. Always reference the machine tool manufacturer and SANDVIK COROMANT published speeds and feeds for this series when establishing cutting parameters.
