The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036904 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 1-inch cutting diameter, a 2.5-inch length of cut, and a 0.03-inch corner radius that protects the cutting edge and improves surface finish on workpiece corners. The five-flute geometry paired with a variable helix and variable index design reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard or abrasive materials. This tool is part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series and is intended for use by professional machinists and CNC tool operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on ferrous metals, hardened steels, and similar difficult-to-machine materials in both vertical and horizontal machining centers. The single-end, centercutting configuration allows for plunge entry, slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1 inch in diameter, providing secure tool holding in standard collet chucks, milling chucks, and hydraulic holders. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction make this a conventional configuration compatible with standard spindle setups. Material grade X1BH designates the carbide substrate for this series.
Designed as an OEM-specification tool in the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series. Compatible with standard 1-inch straight-bore tool holders including collet chucks, milling chucks, and shrink-fit holders used on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an energy-isolated state before changing tooling. Verify holder bore cleanliness and tool runout with a dial indicator before starting a cut, as excess runout accelerates edge wear on carbide end mills. Refer to the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura application guide for recommended starting parameters for cutting speed and feed per tooth based on workpiece material.
