The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036874 is a solid carbide square end mill built for demanding milling applications in metal cutting environments. This single-end tool features a 3/4 inch mill diameter, five flutes, and a 2-1/4 inch length of cut, making it well suited for deep slotting, profiling, and finishing passes in ferrous and hard materials. The AlTiN coating provides high heat resistance and extends tool life in high-speed dry or semi-dry machining conditions. A variable helix and variable index geometry reduce chatter and harmonic vibration, which is critical when working with long overhangs or difficult workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, die-mold, or general metalworking shops will find this tool optimized for both roughing and semi-finishing strategies.
The 8036874 fits standard 3/4 inch toolholders including ER collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders commonly found on 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centers. It belongs to the CoroMill Dura series, which targets high-material-removal operations on steels and hardened alloys. With a 5 inch overall length and no extended-reach geometry, this tool is appropriate for typical cavity and contour work where access depth falls within standard reach requirements. Material grade X1BH further tailors performance to hardened steel and high-strength alloy applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production tooling option for CNC machining centers accepting 3/4 inch shank end mills. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or qualified CNC tooling personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool change cycle is complete before handling the cutter. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout will accelerate flute wear and degrade surface finish. Follow the machine builder and toolholder manufacturer torque specifications when tightening collet nuts or set screws.
