The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036817 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the CoroMill Dura series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.06 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at part corners and extends tool life. The five-flute geometry combined with variable helix and variable index design reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. An AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and wear performance at elevated cutting speeds. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals in precision metalworking and manufacturing shops.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous metals, hardened steels, and high-temperature alloys in both roughing and finishing passes where corner radius profiling is required. The single-end, centercutting configuration supports plunge entry and contour milling operations. The straight cylindrical shank with a 1/2 inch diameter fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation make it compatible with conventional CNC milling setups. Material grade X1BH and the CoroMill Dura series designation indicate it is engineered for challenging workpiece materials requiring high tool stability.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from its holder. Verify holder bore cleanliness and correct projection length before tightening to prevent runout. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer recommendations for speed, feed, and depth of cut parameters appropriate to the workpiece material.
