The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036244 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 2.25 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge. The AlTiN coating provides heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. With 4 flutes, a variable helix, and variable index geometry, this end mill is suited for rigidity-sensitive operations where chatter suppression and chip evacuation are priorities. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job shop environments.
This end mill is part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series and is built for milling steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous alloys in ISO X1BH material grade applications. The single-end, center-cutting design supports both slotting and plunge entry. The straight-cylindrical shank with 1/2 inch diameter fits standard ER and side-lock tool holders. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with conventional CNC machining center spindles. Typical applications include shoulder milling, pocket milling, and finishing passes where corner integrity and surface finish are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner radius end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical tool holders on CNC machining centers. No specific compatible machine models were identified in the available product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool holder secured before inserting or removing the end mill. Confirm holder bore diameter and projection length match the programmed cutting parameters before initiating a cut. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use; replace the tool if chipping, coating delamination, or measurable wear is observed.
