The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036243 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. With a 1/2 inch mill diameter, 2 inch length of cut, and 4-inch overall length, this single-end tool delivers consistent stock removal and edge geometry. The 4-flute configuration paired with a variable helix and variable index design reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. An AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life when running at elevated cutting speeds in ferrous and high-hardness materials. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production machining, and toolroom environments.
The 8036243 belongs to the CoroMill Dura series, engineered for versatile milling in steel and similar materials across both roughing and finishing passes. The 1/2 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and hydraulic toolholders. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. The variable index tooth spacing and centercutting capability allow this mill to be used for slotting, peripheral milling, and plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement end mill within the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series, compatible with standard 1/2 inch ID toolholders used on CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or locked-out state. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow the cutting data recommendations published by SANDVIK COROMANT for the CoroMill Dura series when selecting feed rate, depth of cut, and spindle speed for the specific workpiece material.
