The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036178 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built to the CoroMill Dura series standard, this single-end tool features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and four flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in demanding cutting conditions. It is centercutting and right-hand cutting, making it suitable for plunge entry and conventional milling passes. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing will find this tool appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing operations in hard and abrasive materials.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where tight corner radii and smooth surface finishes are required. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the clamping nut or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used if the edge is compromised.
