The SANDVIK COROMANT 8036175 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to CoroMill Dura series specifications, it features a 1/4 inch mill diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The 4-flute geometry runs right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction, and a variable helix with variable index spacing helps reduce chatter and harmonic vibration during aggressive passes. The AlTiN coating provides elevated heat and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC machining centers will find this tool well suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations in hardened steels and difficult alloys.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers in manufacturing, tool rooms, and job shops. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it useful for slotting, profiling, and ramp-entry operations. The 1/4 inch shank diameter fits standard ER and precision collet chucks used in both production and prototype environments. The variable index geometry is particularly effective when machining hard or abrasive materials where chatter suppression is critical. Material grade X1BH aligns this tool with high-hardness ferrous workpiece materials.
Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroMill Dura series. Compatible with standard 1/4 inch collet chucks and ER collet systems on CNC machining centers. Intended for use with material grade X1BH workpieces as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the controller is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or chuck and torque the retention nut to the tool-holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on variable-helix tools.
