The SANDVIK COROMANT 8029489 is a solid carbide milling insert in the MH20 series, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. Carrying manufacturer grade 1130 with an AlTiCrN coating applied via PVD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding cutting applications. The parallelogram insert shape features a positive rake angle of 13 degrees, two cutting edges, a corner radius of 0.0827 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0472 inches. It is held in place by screw clamping and is configured for right-hand cutting. Machinists and tooling technicians working on CNC milling equipment will find this insert suited to production environments where tool life and surface finish consistency matter.
This insert is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material application codes P, M, S, and H. The M20 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions across these material groups. It is compatible with MH20 cutter series toolholders and is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes depending on feed and depth parameters. Single-sided construction means one side of the insert is usable, with two cutting edges available per insert.
Designed for use with MH20 series milling cutters as specified by SANDVIK COROMANT. Cutter series compatibility is listed as MH20. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and screw size before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat and secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification found in the cutter documentation. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris before placing the insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for the insert or the cutter body.
