The SANDVIK COROMANT 8021124 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in metal cutting operations. It carries the ISO designation CNMG 19 06 12-MR 4415 and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a carbide substrate. The insert has a 3/4 inch inscribed circle (0.7500 inches), a 0.0469 inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. The 4415 grade and MR chip breaker geometry make this insert well suited for medium to heavy turning passes where chip control and wear resistance are priorities.
This insert is intended for machining operations on CNC turning equipment handled by machinists and toolroom technicians. The CNMG-MR series targets ISO P and ISO K workpiece material classifications, covering a range of steel and cast iron applications. The PR chip breaker geometry supports consistent chip evacuation during continuous and interrupted cuts in both roughing and semi-finishing scenarios. Insert thickness is 0.2500 inches (1/4 inch nominal), and the insert is held in the toolholder via clamp or screw retention methods common to CNMG toolholder pockets.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CNMG-style toolholders accepting a CNMG 19 06 12 insert size. Suitable for ISO P and ISO K (Secondary Code K) workpiece material classifications as designated by the CNMG-MR series specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop, zero-energy state before index or insert change. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and confirm the clamping screw or top clamp is torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specification before resuming cutting operations. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for debris or damage at each index to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure. Dispose of used carbide inserts in accordance with applicable facility and local regulations.
