The SANDVIK COROMANT 8021121 is a CNMG-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISO designation CNMG 16 06 12-MR 4415 and features a multi-layer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert has a neutral hand orientation, a 0.0469 inch corner radius, and a 0.6250 inch inscribed circle. It fits into compatible CNMG toolholders using clamp or screw holding methods. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning applications install this insert as a direct replacement in existing setups.
This insert is suited for general turning operations where controlled chip evacuation and edge durability are required. The CNMG-MR series with grade 4415 is positioned for ISO P workpiece materials, making it applicable to carbon steels, alloy steels, and similar ferrous materials. The MR chip breaker geometry supports medium-range depths of cut and feed rates typical in roughing and semi-finishing passes. The secondary workpiece material code K indicates suitability for certain cast materials as well. This insert is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units per transaction.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CNMG 16 06 12-MR 4415 turning inserts used in standard CNMG-compatible toolholders. Compatible with ISO P primary material group and ISO K secondary material group applications per the supplier-stated material codes.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered off and in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing clamp or screw-type seating. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or damage before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the toolholder or insert manufacturer-rated feed and depth-of-cut parameters for this geometry.
