The SANDVIK COROMANT 8020935 is a CCMT-series turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN stack, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted steel cutting. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (Shape Code C), a 0.0156-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. Insert thickness is 0.0938 inches. The PR chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. Machining technicians and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders using a clamp or screw holding method.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel workpieces, with a secondary application classification of K-grade materials. The CCMT 06 02 04-UR form factor and ISO designation make it a standard replacement in production turning operations, both in job shops and high-volume manufacturing environments. The 4415 grade coating combination is well suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes where surface integrity and dimensional consistency are critical. One insert is included per package.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for CCMT-style toolholders accepting an 06 02 insert size code. Verify toolholder insert seat geometry, clamping method, and ISO designation against the 4415 grade specification before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp or screw to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended procedure. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris that could cause insert rocking or premature edge failure.
