The SANDVIK COROMANT 8019633 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISO designation CNMG 12 04 12-MR 4425 and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN over a solid carbide substrate. The MR chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium roughing operations. With a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0469-inch corner radius, this insert delivers controlled chip formation and consistent tool life in steel turning applications. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is engineered primarily for cutting steel, classified under ISO P workpiece material, making it well suited for general-purpose and medium-duty external turning, facing, and profiling passes. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand toolholders configured for CNMG inserts. The 4425 grade provides a balance of wear resistance and toughness appropriate for interrupted and continuous cuts in carbon and alloy steels. It fits CNMG-MR series toolholders and is a direct replacement wherever the CNMG 12 04 12-MR 4425 designation is specified.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for any toolholder accepting CNMG 12 04 12 inserts with clamp or screw holding method. Compatible with CNMG-MR series toolholders per ISO and ANSI insert seating standards. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary application covers ISO K materials per manufacturer classification.
CNMG turning inserts are seated and secured by a licensed machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing an insert, power down the spindle and confirm the machine is in a locked-out, zero-energy state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified seating screw to avoid cracking the carbide or distorting the insert pocket. Do not exceed the toolholder's recommended depth-of-cut or feed-rate envelope for this insert geometry.
