The SANDVIK COROMANT 8019629 is a VNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers controlled wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. It features a 35-degree diamond insert shape (V), a 0.375-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0156-inch corner radius. The MF chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium to light finishing cuts. This insert is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production turning applications.
The 8019629 is part of the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P series, a platform suited for external and internal turning operations in steel and cast iron workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation and clamp-and-screw holding method make it compatible with standard VNMG toolholders. Typical applications include finish turning of steel components and cast iron parts where dimensional accuracy and consistent surface finish are required. The MF chip breaker performs well in light finishing passes where chip control is critical.
Designed for use in standard VNMG-style toolholders compatible with the T-Max P series platform. Primary workpiece material is steel; secondary workpiece material is cast iron. ISO code VNMG 16 04 04-MF 4425 confirms toolholder compatibility with holders accepting the VNMG 1604 insert size.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all axis motion is locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping hardware specified for the toolholder to seat the insert properly — do not overtighten the clamp screw by feel alone. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's seating and clamping procedure to maintain edge repeatability and prevent insert breakage.
