The diamond-shaped insert (shape code D) has a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0469-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. The MF chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium-to-finishing cuts, promoting tight chip control and consistent surface finish on steel workpieces. This insert is intended for steel cutting applications, with a primary workpiece material designation of Steel and a secondary material code of K, indicating suitability for cast iron family materials as well. Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for standard DNMG 15 06 12 toolholder pockets conforming to ISO turning insert seating standards. Compatible with any toolholder accepting a DNMG insert with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, 0.25-inch thickness, and N tolerance/M tolerance class seating.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians following standard indexable insert exchange procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque driver for the clamp or screw retention system as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque, which can crack the carbide.
