The SANDVIK COROMANT 8019558 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPMR series, designated by ISO code TPMR 22 04 08 4425. It carries a multi-layer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, engineered to handle the heat and abrasion generated during steel turning operations. The triangular insert shape (code T) with an 11-degree relief angle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius makes it well suited for profiling and finishing passes where controlled chip geometry and edge stability matter. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is designed primarily for steel workpieces (primary material: Steel) and is also rated for use with secondary workpiece material category K. It is used in external turning applications on CNC lathes and turning centers where a clamp-held, neutral-hand insert is required. The TPMR geometry suits light to medium-depth finishing and semi-finishing cuts where close tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities. Clearance code P and tolerance code M define the seating and dimensional precision class of this insert.
Designed as an OEM-replacement turning insert for TPMR-series toolholders that accept a triangular solid carbide insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, tolerance code M, and clamp-style holding. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation.
Turning insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked before handling or indexing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide body — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping components for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Follow the machine manufacturer and insert supplier guidelines for feed rate and depth-of-cut parameters appropriate to the grade and coating.
