The SANDVIK COROMANT 8019513 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WPMT-PM series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by ISO code WPMT 04 02 08-PM 4425, this insert features a W-shape (80-degree included angle) with a neutral hand orientation and a P clearance angle of 11 degrees. The 4425 grade carbide substrate is CVD-coated with a TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer stack, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts on steel workpieces. The PM chip breaker geometry controls chip evacuation across a range of depths of cut and feed rates common in production turning.
This insert is suited for turning steel (ISO P application) as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability indicated for ISO K materials such as cast iron. It fits standard WPMT-style toolholders that accept clamp or screw insert-holding methods. Typical applications include roughing to semi-finishing passes on steel shafts, flanges, and similar turned components in both job-shop and production environments. The insert is sold individually, making it practical for low-volume replacement or trialing on a new workpiece setup.
Designed for use in standard WPMT-style turning toolholders that accept clamp or screw insert retention. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary workpiece material code K indicates suitability for cast iron applications. Verify toolholder pocket specifications against the WPMT 04 02 08 insert size code before installation.
Turning insert replacement is performed by licensed machinists or qualified CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fastener when securing clamp or screw-style holders to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as foreign material in the pocket will cause premature edge failure.
