The SANDVIK COROMANT 8019382 is a DNMG 15 04 08-PMC 4425 turning insert designed for steel turning applications in CNC lathe and turning center operations. The insert features a diamond (rhombic) 55-degree shape with a negative side clearance and a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN. This coating stack delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making the insert suitable for roughing and medium machining passes on steel workpieces. The 0.0313-inch corner radius and 0.5-inch inscribed circle fit standard DNMG toolholders using clamp or screw holding methods. Machinists and CNC operators install and index this insert as a consumable cutting tool.
This insert is intended for primary use on steel (ISO material group P) and secondary use on cast iron (ISO material group K). Typical applications include external and internal diameter turning, facing, and profiling on steel components in production machining environments. The PMC chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip control during roughing and medium-depth cuts, reducing chip recutting and tool pressure at moderate to higher feed rates. It is appropriate for both light manufacturing and high-volume production shops running steel bar stock, shafts, and similar workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for standard DNMG toolholders accepting a 432 ANSI size code insert with clamp or screw retention. Compatible with toolholders specified for DNMG 15 04 08 inserts per ISO and ANSI standards. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes cast iron (ISO group K).
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped.
