The SANDVIK COROMANT 8003582 is a solid carbide turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. Carrying grade S205 with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN, this insert is optimized for cutting superalloys and titanium — materials that demand high edge stability and thermal resistance. The CNMG432-SF geometry features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and an SF chip breaker. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, it suits a range of roughing and semi-finishing turning operations on CNC lathes. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert in compatible indexable toolholders.
This insert is intended for ISO turning applications where the primary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium, corresponding to ISO material code S. The SF chip breaker geometry is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip formation is critical. Typical use cases include aerospace component turning, medical implant stock, and high-temp alloy shaft work. The T-Max P series is a production-proven line for external and internal turning on modern CNC turning centers. This insert is sold individually and is identified by ISO code CNMG 12 04 08-SF S205.
Designed for use in indexable turning toolholders that accept CNMG 432 (ISO: CNMG 12 04 08) inserts with clamp or screw holding. Primary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S). Compatible holders must accommodate a 0.2030-inch hole diameter and standard CNMG seating geometry per ISO and ANSI insert standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the CNC turning center before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the torque specification listed in the toolholder manufacturer documentation — do not estimate clamping torque. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris before seating a new edge; a damaged pocket will reduce edge life and dimensional accuracy.
