The SANDVIK COROMANT 7937589 is a carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This neutral-hand insert belongs to the CoroCut QI series and carries manufacturer grade 1125, a PVD-coated carbide grade optimized for steel and stainless steel workpieces. It features a GF chip breaker geometry and delivers a cutting width of 0.1181 inches. The insert seats in a G-size insert seat and offers a single cutting edge. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this insert for internal and external grooving applications where consistent chip control and edge security are required.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting on steel and stainless steel workpieces in both light and medium cutting conditions. The CoroCut QI platform is common in automated turning cells and manual CNC turning operations where reliable chip evacuation matters. The GF chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip flow on ductile materials, reducing the risk of chip jamming in tight groove profiles. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand toolholders configured for the CoroCut QI insert seat system.
Designed for use in CoroCut QI series toolholders accepting a G-size insert seat. Primary workpiece material is steel; secondary workpiece material is stainless steel. ISO code QI-NG-0300-0002-GF 1125 identifies compatible toolholder and application pairing within the CoroCut QI system.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the CoroCut QI holder to secure the insert without overtightening. Inspect the insert seat for debris or damage before seating the new insert to ensure proper edge location and clamping force.
