Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 7861136 is a VBMT332-UR solid carbide turning insert from the CoroTurn 107 series. It features a 35-degree diamond insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. The insert is CVD-coated with a multilayer Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN stack and carries manufacturer grade 4425, making it suited for productive turning on steel and cast iron workpieces. The UR chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a range of depths and feed rates. Two cutting edges per insert are available before the insert is indexed or replaced. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators are the primary installers.

This insert is designed for external and internal turning operations on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) materials. It is positioned in the CoroTurn 107 toolholder system, which uses a clamp and screw holding method. Typical applications include finishing and semi-finishing passes where consistent surface finish and tool life are priorities. The 1/32-inch corner radius supports moderate-to-light chip loads and is well suited for lower-depth finishing cuts where edge stability and coating integrity matter.

Key Features

  • CVD-applied multilayer coating: Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN for wear resistance on steel and cast iron
  • 35-degree diamond (V) insert shape with 5-degree relief angle for clearance in tight approach angles
  • UR chip breaker geometry for controlled chip evacuation across a range of feed rates
  • 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 3/16-inch insert thickness for CoroTurn 107 toolholder compatibility
  • Neutral hand orientation — usable on right- or left-hand tooling setups
  • Two cutting edges per insert, indexed via clamp and screw holding method

Compatibility

Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept VBMT-style inserts. ISO code VBMT 16 04 08-UR 4425. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K). Insert holding method requires a compatible clamp and screw seat.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified seating hardware for the CoroTurn 107 toolholder — do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the insert or damage the seat. Inspect the pocket seat and shim for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
