The SANDVIK COROMANT 7861099 is a TNMG332-QM 4425 grade indexable turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a triangular insert shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The 4425 carbide grade is applied with a CVD-deposited multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The QM chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. This insert is installed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for turning steel and cast iron workpieces in both roughing and finishing applications. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard TNMG-style toolholders used in right-hand and left-hand turning configurations. It belongs to the T-Max P series, which is optimized for steel turning under stable conditions. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling on medium-to-large CNC lathes in production and job-shop settings. The insert uses a clamp and screw holding method, consistent with standard ISO indexable toolholder systems.
Designed as a direct-fit indexable replacement for standard TNMG 16 04 08 style toolholders using a clamp and screw holding method. ISO code TNMG 16 04 08-QM 4425. Industry standard number TNMG160408QM4425. Compatible holders designed for TNMG-style inserts with a 0.150-inch hole diameter.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque-limiting screwdriver or clamp tool as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
