The SANDVIK COROMANT 7861060 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG 432-PF geometry, part of the T-Max P series designed for general turning operations on steel and cast iron. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiCN, and TiN, which delivers wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. With an 80-degree trigon shape, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0313 inch corner radius, this insert suits medium-duty external and internal turning passes. Licensed machinists and CNC turning technicians install this insert as a direct replacement in compatible ISO toolholders.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel workpieces (ISO material group P) and secondary use on cast iron (ISO material group K), making it a versatile choice for job shops and production turning cells running mixed material schedules. The PF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light medium cuts, producing controlled chip formation at moderate feed rates. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left-hand and right-hand toolholder pockets that accept WNMG-style inserts.
Designed for use in ISO-standard WNMG toolholders that accept an 80-degree trigon insert with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, 0.1875 inch insert thickness, and a 0.2030 inch hole diameter. Compatible with clamp and screw holding methods. ISO code WNMG 08 04 08-PF 4425 can be used to verify fitment with existing toolholder documentation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or turning technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fasteners for screw-style or clamp-style toolholders — do not over-tighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamp for debris or damage before seating the new insert.
