The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860934 is a solid carbide turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This DNMX431-WF 4425 insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.4 mm corner radius. The CVD-applied multilayer coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN delivers wear resistance and heat management during continuous and interrupted cutting. The WF chip breaker geometry controls chip flow and reduces cutting forces, making this insert well-suited for finishing and light roughing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production environments install and index these inserts as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert targets primary machining of steel and secondary machining of cast iron, covering the ISO material codes P and K respectively. It is part of the T-Max P series and is catalogued under ISO code DNMX 15 04 04-WF 4425. The WF chip breaker is optimized for finishing cuts where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. With four available cutting edges per insert, this grade 4425 insert supports cost-effective tooling cycles in high-volume turning applications. Typical installations include external profile turning, facing, and contour operations on conventional and live-tooling setups.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders configured for DNMX-style inserts with a 55-degree diamond shape, M tolerance, and N clearance. The insert holding method is compatible with both clamp and screw-style T-Max P toolholder seats.
Indexing and replacement of turning inserts is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Always stop the spindle and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before accessing the turret or toolholder. Use the correct torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer specification when tightening the clamping screw or top clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination will affect insert stability and surface finish.
