The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860919 is a DNMG432-LC 4425 series turning insert designed for precision metal turning operations on steel workpieces. Part of the T-Max P series, this solid carbide insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN that delivers wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous and interrupted cutting. The diamond-shaped insert geometry carries a 55-degree included angle with a neutral hand orientation. The 0.79 mm corner radius and LC chip breaker geometry work together to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces in medium to finishing steel turning applications. This insert is installed and indexed by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 7860919 is suited for external and internal turning of steel components on CNC lathes and turning centers. The LC chip breaker designation targets light to medium feeds on steel, making it a practical choice for finishing passes and light roughing where chip control and surface finish consistency matter. The T-Max P series is engineered for steel turning across a range of depths of cut and feed rates consistent with the P-grade ISO workpiece classification.
Designed for use in standard DNMG-style toolholders accepting a 12.70 mm inscribed circle insert with clamp or screw holding. ISO code DNMG 15 04 08-LC 4425. Primary workpiece material classification is steel (ISO P). Verify toolholder pocket tolerance and clamping method before installation.
Turning insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Torque clamping screws according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not overtighten. Confirm insert orientation and edge engagement before resuming cutting operations.
