The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860888 is a DNMX-style diamond turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of cutting conditions. The 55-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited to moderate to heavy stock removal. With an inscribed circle of 9.53 mm and a corner radius of 0.79 mm, the WF chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation during steel and cast iron machining. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians.
This insert is designed for continuous and interrupted turning applications in ferrous materials. The primary workpiece material designation is steel (ISO code P), with a secondary rating for cast iron (ISO code K). The T-Max P series is a general-purpose platform commonly used in production turning environments where consistent tool life and surface finish repeatability are required. The neutral hand designation means the insert is not handed and can be used in standard right-hand toolholders. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profile operations on medium to large diameter workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for DNMX toolholders accepting the DNMX 11 04 08 insert seat size. ISO code DNMX 11 04 08-WF 4425 per manufacturer documentation. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping system before installation.
Insert seating and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping procedure — do not overtighten or use impact tools on clamp screws. Inspect the toolholder pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine guard requirements during tooling changes.
