The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860863 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ANSI code DCMT32.51 and ISO code DCMT11T304, this insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive side clearance and a 7-degree relief angle. The CVD-applied multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN — delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it well suited for steel workpieces classified under ISO material group P. The UF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, producing consistent chip control at light depths of cut and fine feed rates. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders as a direct working consumable.
This insert belongs to the Sandvik Coromant CoroTurn 107 series, a platform widely used in external turning, profiling, and finishing of steel components. The neutral hand orientation supports use in standard right-hand and select left-hand toolholder configurations. Typical applications include finish turning of shafts, flanges, and bored components where tight dimensional tolerances and smooth surface finish are required. The grade 4425 designation targets steel materials demanding a balance of wear resistance and edge stability at moderate cutting speeds.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts with ANSI size code 32.51 and ISO size code 11T304. Insert holding methods include clamp and screw configurations.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp or screw to avoid micro-movement during cutting. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for damage or debris before each insert change to maintain dimensional accuracy.
