The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860769 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designated CNMG433-WMX 4425, engineered for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers controlled wear resistance and thermal protection across a range of cutting speeds. The WMX chip breaker geometry provides reliable chip control in continuous and light interrupted cuts. With a 12.70 mm inscribed circle, 1.19 mm corner radius, and a 4.76 mm insert thickness, it fits standard CNMG 12 04 toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert during routine tooling changes in production environments.
This insert is designed for primary use on steel workpieces and secondary use on cast iron, aligning with ISO material group P and K classifications. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for both right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations. The T-Max P series is intended for general turning applications in medium to high production settings where consistent surface finish and predictable tool life are required. Four available cutting edges per insert reduce per-edge tooling cost in high-volume turning operations.
Designed for use in standard CNMG 12 04 series toolholders. ISO code CNMG 12 04 12-WMX 4425. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO K). Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamp style before installation.
Indexable turning inserts are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before accessing the toolholder pocket. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket seat for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as a damaged pocket will reduce insert life and dimensional accuracy.
