The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860758 is a SNMG-style square turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This solid carbide insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiN, and TiCN, delivering heat resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. It carries a manufacturer grade of 4425, optimized for steel and cast iron workpieces. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for both right- and left-hand toolholders. With 8 available cutting edges per insert, it offers extended tool life per unit. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is intended for medium to semi-finishing turning passes on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. The PR chip breaker geometry is suited for productive cutting with controlled chip formation. It fits standard SNMG-compatible toolholders that accept clamp and screw holding methods. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profile turning on general-purpose lathes in both light manufacturing and heavy production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for SNMG-compatible turning toolholders accepting clamp and screw retention. ISO code SNMG 19 06 12-PR 4425. Compatible toolholders must accommodate a 3/4-inch (0.7500-inch) inscribed circle and a 0.3120-inch hole diameter.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque procedure and verify the insert seats fully against the pocket locating surfaces before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Always handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
