The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860705 is a DNMG332-PM 4425 series turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer stack, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The diamond-shaped insert body features a 55-degree included angle, a 0.79 mm corner radius, and four usable cutting edges. The PM chip breaker geometry is optimized for productive turning in steel and cast iron. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for turning operations on steel as its primary workpiece material and cast iron as a secondary material. It fits standard DNMG-style toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp or screw holding. The T-Max P series designation indicates compatibility with SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P toolholder systems. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for both right-hand and left-hand cutting directions depending on toolholder configuration. Typical applications include external turning, facing, and profiling passes in medium to high production environments.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders within the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series. ISO code DNMG 11 04 08-PM 4425. Accepts clamp or screw holding methods. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO K).
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered off and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer specifications when tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Verify insert index and edge selection before resuming cutting operations.
