The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860575 is a solid carbide turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by ISO code TNMG 22 04 04-PM 4415, this insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.4 mm corner radius. The carbide substrate carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiN, and TiCN under manufacturer grade 4415, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. Six usable cutting edges per insert maximize tooling economy.
This insert is suited for medium to roughing turning passes on steel and cast iron workpieces in both residential shop and industrial production environments. The PM chip breaker geometry is optimized for continuous and interrupted cuts in steel (ISO P) with secondary suitability in cast iron (ISO K). Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and profiling where consistent chip control and edge life are required. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians as part of a standard insert changeout procedure.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders accepting TNMG-style inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping method before installation.
Insert changeout should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, locked-out, and de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw; do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended torque. Inspect the insert seat and shim for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm edge index direction matches the intended cutting hand before resuming operation.
