The SANDVIK COROMANT 7860471 is a WNMG433-PM 4415 grade solid carbide turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for precision external turning operations in CNC and conventional lathe applications. The insert features a trigon (80-degree included angle) shape with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 1.19 mm (0.0469 inch) corner radius. A multilayer CVD coating of Al2O3, TiN, and TiCN provides wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. With six usable cutting edges per insert, the WNMG433-PM 4415 is built for productive tooling life in production turning environments. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and tooling technicians.
This insert is suited for turning steel as its primary workpiece material and cast iron as a secondary workpiece material. The PM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium to finishing passes on steel components. It fits standard WNMG-style toolholders using clamp or screw holding methods. The T-Max P series is commonly applied in high-volume production environments where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required across steel and cast iron workpieces. ISO code designation is WNMG 08 04 12-PM 4415.
Designed for use in WNMG-style indexable toolholders that accept 0.5 inch inscribed circle trigon inserts with a 0.2030 inch hole diameter. Compatible with clamp and screw holding methods. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO K).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
