The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859279 is a CNMG432-WM 4415 turning insert designed for general turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, providing wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. It features an 80-degree diamond shape (insert shape code C) and a neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for both external and facing operations. The WM chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium cutting conditions. This insert is used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments working primarily with steel and cast iron workpiece materials.
The CNMG432-WM 4415 is applied in medium turning of steel (ISO P materials) and cast iron (ISO K materials) at moderate feeds and depths of cut. The WM chip breaker geometry handles interrupted and continuous cuts with consistent chip control. Each insert delivers four usable cutting edges, reducing tooling cost per edge in high-volume turning programs. The T-Max P series is a standard CNMG platform used on a wide range of tool holders following ISO and ANSI CNMG seating standards in both production and repair machine shops.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for tool holders accepting CNMG432 (ISO: CNMG 12 04 08) seating geometry. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K). Compatible with clamp- and screw-style CNMG insert holders following standard CNMG tolerances (tolerance code M, clearance code N).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination affects insert stability and tool life. Use the correct torque driver for screw-clamped holders and follow the tool holder manufacturer's seating procedure; do not use impact tools on insert screws.
