The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859252 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Manufactured to the DNMX 15 06 12-WF 4415 ISO code, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.047 inch (1.19 mm) corner radius. The CVD-applied multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN — delivers wear resistance and thermal protection suited for medium to finishing passes. Grade 4415 is optimized for cutting cast iron (primary) and steel (secondary) workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and index this insert as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert belongs to the Sandvik T-Max P series, engineered for external turning, facing, and profiling operations. It is suited for both roughing and finishing passes on cast iron and steel components in industrial machining environments. The WF chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. Typical applications include production turning on horizontal and vertical lathes in job shops, OEM manufacturing cells, and maintenance machining operations. The neutral hand configuration allows mounting in right- or left-hand toolholders compatible with the DNMX insert pocket style.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting DNMX-style inserts with a 1/2 inch inscribed circle and DNMX 15 06 insert pocket dimensions. Compatible holding methods include clamp and screw-type toolholder systems. Refer to the Sandvik T-Max P series toolholder catalog to confirm pocket and shim compatibility before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the clamp or tightening the mounting screw — do not over-tighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation and hand before resuming any cutting operation.
