The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859162 is a DNMG432-LC 4415 series turning insert engineered for precision metal removal on steel workpieces. Part of the T-Max P series, this solid carbide insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, delivering heat and wear resistance in continuous and interrupted steel turning operations. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape, a 12.70 mm (0.2030 inch) inscribed circle, and a 0.79 mm (0.0313 inch) corner radius. The neutral hand orientation and LC chip breaker geometry support balanced chip control across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. CNC lathe operators and tool-and-die machinists use this insert for production turning of steel components.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning applications on steel in both light finishing and moderate roughing scenarios. The LC chip breaker is designed to manage chip flow at medium cutting parameters, making it a reliable choice for production floor environments where consistent tool life and chip evacuation are priorities. It fits standard DNMG-style toolholders that accept a 4.76 mm (3/16 inch) insert thickness and a 0.2030-inch hole diameter with clamp or screw holding methods.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders accepting a 4.76 mm insert thickness and 0.2030-inch hole diameter with clamp or screw clamping. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P). ISO designation DNMG 15 04 08-LC 4415 and manufacturers catalog number DNMG 432-LC 4415 apply for holder and replacement cross-referencing.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping method; do not over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new cutting edge.
