Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859123 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations in CNC and manual turning applications. Running under the CoroTurn 107 series designation DCMX 11T3 04-WM 4415, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a 0.4 mm (0.0156 inch) corner radius. The CVD coating stack — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN — delivers a layered wear-resistance profile suited to continuous and interrupted cuts on steel and cast iron. The WM chip breaker geometry and wiper edge are engineered to control chip flow and surface finish at medium cutting parameters. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible CoroTurn 107 toolholders.

This insert is built for medium turning of steel (ISO material group P) as its primary application and cast iron (ISO material group K) as a secondary application. The WM chip breaker makes it well suited to medium-depth finishing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and surface finish are priorities. Its neutral hand orientation and clamp-and-screw holding method fit standard 11T3-size toolholder pockets used on turning centers and engine lathes in both production and job-shop environments.

Key Features

  • CVD multilayer coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for thermal and abrasion resistance
  • 55-degree diamond insert shape (ISO shape code D) for versatile turning geometry
  • WM chip breaker with wiper edge for controlled chip formation and improved surface finish
  • Neutral hand orientation compatible with standard 11T3-pocket toolholders
  • Clamp and screw holding method for secure seating under interrupted and continuous cuts
  • Two cutting edges per insert to extend tooling value per unit

Compatibility

Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCMX 11T3-size inserts with clamp and screw holding. ISO code DCMX 11 T3 04-WM 4415. Manufacturers catalog number DCMX 3(2.5)1-WM 4415. Primary workpiece material compatibility is steel (ISO P); secondary is cast iron (ISO K).

Installation Notes

Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures. Always power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Refer to the applicable cutting data recommendations for the 4415 grade when setting speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
