Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859117 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated DCMT32.52-UR 4415, it carries a 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a 0.79 mm (0.0313 inch) corner radius. The insert is CVD-coated with a TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer stack under grade 4415, which targets steel as the primary workpiece material and cast iron as a secondary application. The neutral hand orientation suits straight-turning toolpaths. Two cutting edges are available per insert. This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series and is installed by machinists and CNC turning specialists in production and job-shop environments.

This insert is suited for medium to finishing turning passes on steel and cast iron components in both production and repair-shop settings. The UR chip breaker geometry is matched to moderate feed rates and depths of cut typical in these materials. The CoroTurn 107 series is a common platform in shops running indexable insert toolholders that accept screw- and clamp-style insert holding. The ISO code for this insert is DCMT 11 T3 08-UR 4415, and the manufacturer catalog reference is DCMT 3(2.5)2-UR 4415.

Key Features

  • 55-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code D) for versatile turning and profiling
  • CVD multilayer coating: TiCN, Al2O3, TiN — grade 4415 for steel and cast iron
  • 0.79 mm corner radius for a balance of edge strength and surface finish
  • Neutral hand — compatible with straight-turning toolpaths in both directions
  • UR chip breaker geometry suited for medium finishing operations
  • Two usable cutting edges per insert for cost-effective indexing

Compatibility

Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts with screw and clamp holding. The ISO designation DCMT 11 T3 08-UR 4415 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder bores. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO K).

Installation Notes

Insert installation should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a locked or e-stop state. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw or top clamp — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Index to a fresh cutting edge only after confirming the seating pocket is clean and free of chips. Worn inserts should be removed and properly disposed of; carbide fragments are a laceration hazard.
