The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859099 is a solid carbide turning insert designated CCMT432-UM 4415, part of the CoroTurn 107 series. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, engineered for high wear resistance with moderate toughness on steel workpieces. The insert carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a 0.79 mm (0.0313 inch) corner radius and a 12.70 mm (0.5 inch) inscribed circle. Neutral hand orientation and positive side clearance make it straightforward to index. This insert is sized for roughing and medium machining operations where consistent tool life and chip control are the priority. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary users.
This insert is applied in CNC turning centers and engine lathes for external and internal turning of steel components. The UM chip breaker geometry is suited for roughing and medium machining passes on P-grade steels, delivering effective chip evacuation across a range of depths of cut and feed rates. The grade 4415 coating system balances wear resistance and edge toughness, making it appropriate for continuous or light interrupted cuts in production turning environments. The ANSI insert code is CCMT432 and the ISO insert code is CCMT120408, also referenced as CCMT 12 04 08-UM 4415.
Designed for use in CCMT-style clamp and screw-type toolholders compatible with the CoroTurn 107 series. ANSI insert code CCMT432; ISO insert code CCMT120408. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to ensure proper seating without cracking the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as a damaged pocket will reduce insert life and dimensional accuracy.
