The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859088 is a CCMT-style turning insert from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This solid carbide insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, providing wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (Shape Code C) delivers a strong cutting geometry suited for general turning, profiling, and finishing passes. With a 9.53 mm inscribed circle and a 0.4 mm corner radius, it balances edge strength with surface finish capability. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is rated primarily for steel (ISO material code P) and secondarily for cast iron (ISO material code K), making it a versatile choice for mixed-material shops running ferrous workpieces. The WM chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium finishing to light roughing on steel, helping control chip formation across a range of depths of cut and feed rates. The neutral hand orientation suits standard right-hand toolholders used in the CoroTurn 107 toolholder system. The ISO code for this insert is CCMT 09 T3 04-WM 4415.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series toolholders accepting CCMT-style inserts with a neutral hand orientation. ISO code CCMT 09 T3 04-WM 4415. Manufacturers catalog number CCMT 3(2.5)1-WM 4415. Verify toolholder insert pocket specifications before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine spindle stopped and in a safe, locked-out state per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Use the appropriate Torx or insert-clamping wrench specified for the toolholder to seat the clamp or screw; do not overtighten by hand estimation. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge alignment.
