The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859086 is a CCMT-style turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This solid carbide insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under Sandvik grade 4415, engineered to balance wear resistance and heat dissipation during continuous and light interrupted cuts. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (shape code C), a 7-degree relief angle (clearance code C), and a neutral hand orientation. The UR chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control across a wide range of feeds and depths. ISO code is CCMT 09 T3 04-UR 4415. The insert holds a tolerance code of M and is held by clamp or screw.
This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series and is suited for finish to semi-finish turning of steel and cast iron workpieces on both light-duty and production turning setups. The 4415 grade targets ISO material groups P (steel) and K (cast iron), making it a general-purpose choice for shops running a variety of ferrous workpiece materials. It is commonly installed in toolholders sized for CCMT 3(2.5)1 inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Two cutting edges are available per insert.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CCMT 3(2.5)1 insert seats within the CoroTurn 107 toolholder system. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 0.1732-inch hole diameter, and CCMT insert size code 09T3. Suitable for ISO material groups P (steel) and K (cast iron).
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before tightening the clamp or screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque values and do not substitute insert grades or chip breaker geometries without verifying compatibility with the toolholder and programmed cutting parameters.
