The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859084 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting speeds. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C) with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.40 mm corner radius. The inscribed circle measures 9.53 mm (3/8 inch), and the insert thickness is 3.97 mm. The UF chip breaker geometry is optimized for light finishing cuts. Installation and tool management are handled by machinists and CNC setup technicians.
The 7859084 is suited for turning applications where controlled chip formation and surface finish are priorities. Its primary workpiece material classification is ISO K (cast iron), with a secondary classification of ISO P (steel), making it applicable across a broad range of ferrous materials. The CoroTurn 107 series is intended for use in positive-rake insert seats with clamp or screw holding methods. This insert is appropriate for both production-floor and job-shop environments running light to medium finishing passes on CNC turning centers and manual lathes equipped with compatible toolholders.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept CCMT 09 T3 insert geometry with positive-rake seats and clamp or screw holding. Compatible toolholders must match the C insert shape, M tolerance code, and C clearance code per ISO turning insert standards.
Turning insert replacement should be performed with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw; do not exceed the recommended torque for the seat type. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Always verify insert orientation and hand designation match the toolholder before resuming cutting operations.
