Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 7859069 is a DNMG-style indexable turning insert from the T-Max P series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 1.19 mm (0.0469 inch) corner radius. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide substrate and coated via CVD with a multilayer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN stack, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal protection at the cutting edge. The insert carries grade designation 4415, optimized for steel and cast iron machining. It is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC setup technicians in production and job-shop environments.

This insert is suited for medium to roughing turning passes on steel and cast iron workpieces, where consistent edge life and chip control are required. The PM chip breaker geometry manages chip flow across a range of depths of cut and feed rates typical in general-purpose turning. The T-Max P series is a widely used platform for external turning in both roughing and semi-finishing applications. The 1/2-inch inscribed circle and 55-degree diamond geometry provide good approach angle flexibility while maintaining insert rigidity.

Key Features

  • CVD multilayer coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for wear resistance and heat management
  • Grade 4415 carbide substrate optimized for steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) workpiece materials
  • 55-degree diamond insert shape (DNMG) with neutral hand orientation
  • 1.19 mm corner radius for balanced edge strength and surface finish capability
  • 4 usable cutting edges per insert for cost-effective tooling consumption
  • PM chip breaker geometry for controlled chip formation in medium turning applications
  • Compatible with clamp and screw insert holding methods

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for tool holders accepting DNMG 443 (ISO: DNMG 15 06 12) geometry inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 0.203-inch hole diameter, and clamp or screw retention. Fits standard DNMG-compatible turning toolholders used in the T-Max P series system.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC technician. Before indexing or replacing the insert, the machine spindle must be stopped and the turret must be in a safe, locked position. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified for the toolholder clamping system and follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper edge alignment and runout control.
