The SANDVIK COROMANT 7781747 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It carries a dual TiAlSiN/TiSiN coating that resists heat and wear at elevated cutting speeds. The bit runs a 140-degree drill point angle, which improves self-centering and reduces thrust when entering hard or work-hardened surfaces. Overall length is 124 mm (4.88 inches), with a 77 mm (3.03-inch) spiral flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 14 mm (0.55 inches). It is part of the Sandvik Coromant 860-GM series and conforms to DIN 6535HA. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management in deep-hole applications.
This drill bit is rated for a maximum drilling depth of 55.6 mm (3.03 inches) at a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio. It is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H. Typical applications include production machining, job shop work, and maintenance operations where consistent hole quality in difficult-to-machine materials is required. It is designed for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses with coolant delivery capability.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with coolant-through toolholding. Compatible with workpiece materials designated under ISO groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous), S (superalloys and titanium), and H (hard materials). Straight-cylindrical shank suits standard collet chucks and hydraulic holders accepting a 14 mm shank per DIN 6535HA.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and within specified runout tolerances before seating the shank. Activate coolant-through supply before the bit contacts the workpiece to prevent thermal shock to the carbide. Do not use this bit in hand-held drills or equipment that cannot maintain concentricity and controlled feed rates.
