The SANDVIK COROMANT 7564553 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for indexable face and shoulder milling operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Manufactured to grade 4340 with a CVD-applied triple-layer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers controlled wear resistance across a broad range of cutting conditions. The rectangular insert body measures 9.5 mm wide and 3.5 mm thick, with a 0.50 mm corner radius and a positive rake geometry that reduces cutting forces. It seats in a screw-clamped pocket and carries four usable cutting edges per insert, lowering cost per edge in production environments. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This insert is suited for milling applications on steel (P-class), stainless steel (M-class), and cast iron (K-class) workpieces in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The PM chip breaker geometry supports moderate feed rates and chip control across these material groups. The insert is compatible with the Sandvik Coromant N331.32 cutter series and follows the ANSI and ISO designation N331.1A-04 35 05M-PM4340. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and slot milling in job shop and production machining environments where consistent edge life on ferrous materials is required.
Designed for use in the Sandvik Coromant N331.32 cutter series. Insert style is N331.1A, insert size code 043505. ANSI and ISO designation N331.1A-04 35 05M-PM4340. Verified compatible with P40, M40, and K40 material grade applications covering steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not over-drive, as insert fracture or pocket damage can result. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new edge.
