The SANDVIK COROMANT 7564375 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R390 series face and square-shoulder milling cutters. Manufactured to grade 4340 with a CVD-applied tri-layer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. The parallelogram insert shape features a positive 22-degree rake angle and a corner-rounded cutting edge style, reducing cutting forces and improving surface finish. At 0.1875 inches thick with a 0.3780-inch inscribed circle diameter and a maximum depth of cut of 0.6181 inches, this single-sided insert is suitable for moderate to aggressive milling passes in production environments. It is held in the cutter body by screw clamping and is right-hand oriented.
This insert is rated for material grades P40, M40, and K40, making it applicable for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It fits the R390 cutter series and carries insert size code 170404 per both ANSI and ISO standards, with a catalog designation of R390-17 04 04E-PM 4340. The PM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-duty cutting conditions. It is suited for CNC machining centers running production parts in job shops, toolrooms, and manufacturing facilities where consistent insert performance and predictable tool life are required.
Designed for use with the SANDVIK COROMANT R390 cutter series. Insert size code 170404 per ANSI and ISO classification R390-17 04 04E-PM 4340. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P, M, and K covering steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before replacing inserts, ensure the spindle is fully stopped, the machine is in an E-stop or lockout-tagout state, and all cutter body pockets are clear of chips and debris. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the cutter manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear before installing a new insert.
