The SANDVIK COROMANT 7564365 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in R390 shoulder milling cutters. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under manufacturer grade 4340, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 3.59 mm thick and 6.80 mm wide, with a 0.80 mm corner radius and an ANSI/ISO designation of R390-11 T3 08M-PM 4340. With a positive 20-degree rake angle and a PM chip breaker, it is engineered for consistent chip control in moderate to aggressive milling passes. A licensed machinist or CNC operator installs this insert in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both roughing and semi-finishing applications. The parallelogram insert shape, right-hand cutting orientation, and single-sided design make it a direct fit for R390-series and M-32 cutter bodies. It handles a maximum depth of cut up to 0.3937 inches, making it appropriate for shoulder milling operations in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The PM chip breaker geometry supports reliable performance across the P40, M40, and K40 material grade classifications.
Compatible with R390-series and M-32 cutter bodies as specified by the manufacturer. Insert size code 11T308 and ANSI/ISO designation R390-11 T3 08M-PM 4340 should be verified against the toolholder specification before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as solid carbide inserts are brittle. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
