The SANDVIK COROMANT 7231487 is a VBMT-style indexable turning insert engineered for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, it is manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN. This combination delivers strong wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and semi-interrupted cuts. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for stainless steel machining at moderate to high cutting parameters. This insert is designed primarily for turning stainless steel workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material group M.
