The SANDVIK COROMANT 7101043 is a solid carbide milling insert designated by ANSI and ISO code R331.1A-04 35 15H-WL1130. It belongs to the R331.1A series and is designed for use in shoulder and face milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a PVD-applied AlTiCrN coating that supports cutting performance in demanding conditions. It has a rectangular shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a WL chip breaker. Thickness measures 3.50 mm (0.1378 inches) and width measures 9.50 mm (0.3740 inches). With two cutting edges and a corner-rounded cutting edge style, the insert is suited for right-hand cutting applications.
This insert is intended for professional machining environments where milling steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials is required. It is held in place by a screw-style clamping method and fits toolholders and cutter bodies in the R331.1A series, including the N331.32 cutter series. The single-sided design and right-hand orientation make it a direct-fit replacement for applications that specify the R331.1A insert family. It is compatible with material grades P30, M15, and N15, covering a practical range of ISO material categories used in production and job-shop milling.
Compatible with the N331.32 cutter series. Designed for use in R331.1A series tooling systems accepting screw-clamped, single-sided rectangular milling inserts with a 0.3500 to 0.4000 inch inscribed circle range and a 0.1250 to 0.1500 inch thickness range.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following standard insert-change procedures. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before removing or seating the insert. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw and avoid over-torquing, which can crack the carbide substrate. Confirm insert seating and pocket cleanliness before resuming cutting operations.
