The SANDVIK COROMANT 7101014 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation L331.1A-05 45 30H-WL1130. It belongs to the L331.1A series and is designed for use in indexable milling toolholders that accept screw-held inserts. The insert features an AlTiCrN coating applied via PVD process, a positive rake geometry, and a corner-rounded cutting edge style with a WL chip breaker. It measures 9.5 mm (0.3740 inches) wide and 4.45 mm (0.1752 inches) thick, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.2244 inches. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators install this type of insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering material application codes P, M, N, S, and H. The manufacturer grade is 1130, targeting a broad P30 through N15 and M15 material range. The left-hand insert orientation and 90-degree included angle make it appropriate for shoulder milling and side milling operations where precise edge geometry is required. It is a single-sided, multi-use insert intended for applications demanding consistent chip control and tool life across varied workpiece materials.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for indexable milling toolholders in the L331.1A series that accept the 054530 insert size code and screw-held single-sided inserts.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the milling spindle is fully de-energized and the machine is in a locked-out, tagged-out state before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before placing the new insert.
