The SANDVIK COROMANT 7101011 is a solid carbide milling insert in the L331.1A series, designed for use in shoulder milling and profile milling operations on CNC machining centers and milling machines. It carries an AlTiCrN coating applied via PVD process, which supports high cutting speeds and extends tool life across demanding workpiece materials. The insert measures 0.3740 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.1378 inches thick, with a left-hand orientation and positive rake geometry. The WL chip breaker design supports controlled chip evacuation during cutting. Manufacturer grade 1130 positions this insert for a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous applications.
This insert is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, N, S, and H. It is a single-sided insert with two cutting edges and a corner-rounded cutting edge style. Typical installation scenarios include production milling on horizontal and vertical machining centers where a secure screw-held insert is required. The insert is compatible with the R331.35 cutter series, making it a direct-fit option for shops already running that tool body platform.
Compatible with the R331.35 cutter series. ANSI and ISO code: L331.1A-04 35 23H-WL1130. Designed for use in milling cutter bodies that accept L331.1A-series inserts with screw-held mounting and a 0.1024 inch hole diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians during tool setup or insert indexing. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — do not overtighten or undertighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
